Growing up, I was always dancing, exercising, active and in shape. I loved movement and was aware of the sensation of feeling good in my body when I engaged my body actively. I can remember, even as a child, feeling like somehow I wanted to help people to have healthier bodies, minds, and spirits by engaging all aspects of the self through movement. Also, I always knew that I wanted to help animals, the environment, and somehow encourage the awareness in people of an underlying commonality and unity among the global community. The road I have traveled has been long and winding, but I truly believe I am on the path I am meant to walk. I became a Reiki Master in 2006, learned more about Animal Communication, and became a Certified Energy Medicine Practitioner in 2009. I have a healing practice called Windancer Healing Arts, providing energy based holistic healing and life cycle support for people and animals in person and long distance.
In 2005, I was in a car accident which made it very difficult for me to move my body for quite a while. My body felt foreign to me, I didn't recognize it and was unfamiliar with the limited sense of movement. After being active and healthy my whole life, this was a very difficult challenge to "move" through, physically and emotionally. It took several years to help heal my back, but in the meantime, I also got very anemic and incredibly weak. So, even though my back was healing, it was still difficult for me to be active. I first found out about Nia in 2009 and took classes for about a year. I clearly remember the way I felt after the first class and saying that I felt like my body was alive again. Unfortunately, my anemia got progressively worse and I had to stop. In the fall of 2010, I started to become stronger again and was ready to re-engage my body. Shortly thereafter, I had a major moment connecting with my soul and it's deep longing to dance and I realized that I could no longer deny myself that longing. Somehow, I needed to find a way (besides around my house) to DANCE! When I asked myself the question of HOW? The first thing that came to mind was Nia. When I looked at the website, I realized how much more comprehensive it is and how incredibly complimentary it is to the healing work I do- everything comes back to energy! So, I signed up and took the White Belt Intensive. It was a wonderful training which has opened up more possibilities to bring movement to the larger community for EVERYONE (adults and children alike), than I had ever imagined. I'm thrilled to be teaching now and so excited to share this in as many ways as I can. On a personal note, it also feels really good be able to actively engage my body and feel the joy of being in my body again!
