The first time I did Nia in 2006 with Debbie and Carlos I knew I needed to share it with others so I immediately registered for my white belt training. It's my absolute passion. I've taught many different group fitness class formats over 16 years, have been a champion ballroom dancer and have never felt as good as when I do Nia. Nia allows me to move my body in all directions and planes, use my voice and breath when I move, smile and laugh and cry and really ENJOY how my body moves. I absolutely love the music of Nia; incredible variety and music from all over the world.

I have 2 daughters (Maddi 19 and Lucy 23 years) and a wonderful husband (David) who are involved in Nia as class participants.

My favorite part of teaching Nia is watching the people in my classes transform. New people sometimes come in and feel scared or nervous about starting class. I love to watch as they become less self conscious to the point where they crave coming back and doing it again...almost giddy when they leave. There's something very freeing about letting yourself move to the music...all of us doing the same basic step, yet moving in our unique ways. 

I love that Nia is a structured program with principles and specific movement technique. It's the structure that allows for the freedom of movement....once you have the basics you can really let go and MOVE!
