I found Nia in 2009 after I experienced a major corporate restructuring, found myself unemployed and seeking new opportunities. Nia opened pathways in my mind, body, and spirit unlike any other fitness program I had experienced.
In 2012, I attended a Nia Wellness retreat, hosted by Black Belt Instructor Marie McKay, at Present Moment in Troncones, Mexico. During the retreat, one of the participants approached me and said, "I believe dancing with your group made the greatest impact on my healing." It was in that very moment I felt called to teach Nia.
Nia evokes a euphoria that I find difficult to describe. Founder, Debbie Rosas says, "Nia is like chocolate - you just need to taste it."
In 2014, because of my passion for Nia and my belief in its ability to transforn lives, I pursued my White Belt from Barb Wesson (Nia Black Belt/Trainer). I also hold a Masters Degree in Adult and Organization Development and I am a Certified Professional Coach with the Center for Coaching Solutions where I co-authored the book, Coaching Perspectives.
As a Nia White Belt, I teach blisfful Nia classes in the Minneapolis, Metro area where I live and work as an AbunDANCE coach for my company - Abundance Coaching and Wellness, LLC. I intend on taking Nia international with my first stop being Nagpur, India where I plan to serve and teach Nia to children Orphaned by AIDS - sponsored by the Hughes Foundation.
My Nia students have nicknamed me, "Dawn Bliss" and my guiding quote is, "life is too important to be taken too seriously." My spirit animal is the flying squirrel,
I would be delighted to guide you through a Nia Practice. I look foward to seeing you in class!
