Nia first touched my life 12 years ago in Austin, TX where after years of feeling unfullfilled in the traditional dance setting I stumbled into a Nia class and for the first time was asked and encouraged to sense my body. I was hooked after the first class. Finally a movement technique to dance, feel, open, challenge, stretch, strengthen and sound my body. Nia provided and outlet to heal my body and mind and it was fun! An hour to sink into my body, allow my mind to slow down and my spirit to dance. Two years later I became certifed to teach. I started teaching a year later at an athletic club. THoughout the years as I've traveled, moved, married, had babies, Nia has remained a constant in my life. A movement technique that has always shown me the way back to my body, mind and spirit.
I teach Nia because I love this work, and it empowers me to share it with others.
