I was introduced to Nia in 2003 as part of my graduate training in the Experiential Health and Healing program at the Graduate Institute in Connecticut. That first experience left me feeling expansive, strong, fluid, relaxed, graceful and completely full of joy. I was hooked. I spent the following two years after that first Nia experience focusing my graduate work on exploring somatic approaches to mind-body wellness.

For the past nine years, Nia has been an essential part of my daily life to maintain optimal physical, emotional, mental and spiritual wellness and wholeness.

The two things I love most about Nia are: 1. Nia demands that we seek, embrace and sustain pleasure and joy in movement. 2. Nia insists that we move our own unique body’s way. I tell everyone that Nia is the celebration of your spirit expressed through movement. There is no one like you!

I strive to facilitate classes with love, mindfulness, openness, and a healthy dose of playfulness. My Nia classes are fun and intentionally designed to make it easy for anyone to step right in, at any age, level or experience. I promise you will sweat and move every part of your body, even your eyes. And I will always remind you to tweak your movements when you feel pain so that you are constantly seeking pleasure in your dance. 

My maiden name, Lucero, means “bright star.” I am excited to move, groove and share my light with you. Come join me in dancing into health!
