I found Nia in 2004 after bumping into two 'electric' friends in Santa Barbara....after that chance encounter i seemed to hear 'Nia' everywhere...took my first class in Chatham NJ with Denise (I was over here looking for a house, we were relocating from the UK)...thought she was brilliant and making it all up as she went along! I have no fitness or dance background, i'm a fine art graduate who has spent most of her life up to her elbows in paint and linseed oil. I signed up for my white belt after 3 classes with no intention of ever teaching.....i am now a black belt and I teach a couple of times a week. My students have become cherished friends, my fellow teachers feel like family. I am so grateful for all that this practice has allowed me to discover it has inspired me to share it as much as i possibly can.

Nia has nurtured an intensely loving relationship with my body, no matter how i show up my Nia tools allow me joy, grace and strenth every day.
