I stumbled onto/into Nia through my husband. We had just moved to Austin, TX and I was run down, stressed out, and freaking over how I had just quit a job that was supposed to be the culmination of years of education and training. I was without direction, without vision, without point. And then one day my husband says,"I went by this place today, some kind of studio, and they have this class, sort of like a dance class, and you like to dance so you should check it out." So I did; and, of course, I fell in love with this "sort of like a dance class" but is, I've discovered, so much more. Slowly, effortlessly, my spark and passion for my work has come back - an unconscious extension of my time spent moving my body in the way that feels right for me.
I have returned to Canada and have found myself in a city with very few Nia teachers so after 11 years of practicing as a student, as of May 2011, I'm now sharing the joy of Nia as a teacher. Looking forward to dancing with you!
