       Kirstie has taught creative self-expression through drawing, painting, sculpture and practiced as a licensed art therapist for almost 30 years, integrating cutting-edge somatic awareness techniques into her work with students and clients. She discovered the potential of Nia to heal body, mind, spirit and emotions in a personally powerful way beginning early in 2006, one year after a neck injury left her temporarily unable to participate in her favorite sports of distance swimming and biking. By June that year she was inspired to complete the White Belt training with Holly Curtis Nastasi and began teaching that autumn. She organized a teachers practice group for new Nia teachers in 2007 in Santa Fe, NM. After three years away from teaching Nia, Kirstie returned to teaching in the fall of 2010 after completing certification in Nia 5 Stages with Nia co-founder Debbie Rosas Stewart and the Blue Belt with Nia co-founder Carlos AyaRosas.  Kirstie completed the Nia Brown Belt in October 2011 with Debbie Rosas Stewart and Ann Christiansen.
      Kirstie has danced through her life as a tap, ballet and folk dancer, music and yoga student, tennis player, biker, hiker, swimmer, artist, gardener, therapist and healer. As a life-long mover, teaching Nia has become her favorite connection to the somatic awareness of Universal Joy. Kirstie brings her playful sense of humor to her classes, encouraging a dance filled with light-hearted laughter, creative expression and healing for her students.
