Michell Hageman Kawaja began her dancing career as a ballerina in Oregon. The following years she received her BFA from the Juilliard School and completed a year training at the Tamalpa Institute for movement based expressive arts therapy. After 8 years of practicing the Nia Technique, Michell completed Nia white and blue belt intensives with founders Debbie and Carlos Rosas. Michell has taught movement and Nia throughout the California bay area and Austin, TX in colleges, dance studios, grade schools, and athletic gyms alike.
Michell conducts her classes with a heavy focus on the joy of movement. She strives to make movement accessible to all students, encouraging them to explore their creative potential, tap into body awareness, and above all, let loose and have fun!
