The Nia 5 Stages Training
Testimonials
"I am so impressed and excited with Debbie's new development: Nia 5 Stages Training. It is most assuredly more than a two day training; it is an incredible personal experience and the educational content is amazing. Debbie's passion for this work is evident in her playful, honest and yet technical delivery of this practice. I did the initial training in August of 2008, and have been teaching Nia 5 Stages for about 9 months, on a weekly basis with phenomenal results. If you are looking to offer your health seeking clients, students, and members the most innovative practice to self-heal, if you are looking to expand your own somatic education of the human body, if you are seeking your own self-healing, if you want to compliment your Nia FloorPlay cycle, or if you are looking to add to your class offerings, then I highly recommend taking this course."

"Nia 5 Stages is amazing, transformational work. The weekend spent with Debbie blazed a new trail of knowledge for me. I started teaching a Nia 5 stages class after returning to San Antonio, and the community loves it. Nia 5 Stages is another opportunity to grow as belts, as teachers, and also in our personal journey of life!"

"The process of Nia 5 Stages is remarkable and profound. In my experience of teaching through movement I am continually touched by starting with awareness and knowing of how far I will go. The materials are wonderfully done. I particularly enjoyed how I could craft the class in moving from Part 1 to Part 2. My workshop experience has me thinking about Nia in a completely new way as to the breadth and depth of the work; moving way beyond the dance of Nia into the integration of healing, health and fitness. Thank you for your work; I am inspired!"

"For any teacher looking to really dive into embodying the wisdom of The Body's Way, the 5 Stages is your answer. As a lover of the body, always interested in learning the how, what, and why, this unique somatic course makes it possible to learn, teach, and get paid to do what you love all at once. I am extremely excited about the learning process I created, which uses a simple class format, with 52 unique lesson plans, each designed to teach you and the student what makes living and moving in the body an amazing sensory experience. The Nia 5 Stages takes teaching to a whole new level, giving you language and body knowledge to turn every class into a rich somatic experience."

Embryonic, Creeping, Crawling, Standing and Walking

A powerful new training for Nia belt intensive graduates
The Nia 5 Stages is an integrative movement practice based on the five stages of human development: Embryonic, Creeping, Crawling, Standing and Walking. Practiced with awareness, these stages have the power to facilitate optimal alignment, improved function and comfort in the body. Whether practiced at length or for as little as five minutes a day, this system provides a tool for reclaiming and sustaining mobility, flexibility, strength, agility and stability.
The Nia 5 Stages Training provides Nia belt intensive graduates with the tools to embody the practice and/or facilitate a 60-minute Nia 5 Stages class. It also qualifies Nia teachers to integrate this body of work into Nia classes, private sessions and two-hour experiential workshops. The Nia 5 Stages Training program adds a whole new ‘toolbox’ to the Nia teacher’s depth of delivery and repertoire, and includes three comprehensive modules: Pre-Training, Training and Post-Training.
Pre-Training
A guided self-study, exploring the Nia core competencies of music, movement, methodology, anatomy and philosophy as they relate to the Nia 5 Stages. Completion of the pre-training prior to the training is required to adequately prepare for the training. Pre-training materials include:
-
Pre-Training Manual: Readings, exercises and reflections to guide the learning about and embodiment of the Nia 5 Stages.
- The Voices of the 5 Stages CD: A guided moving meditation experience
- Nia 5 Stages Pre-Training DVD 1: Includes an introduction to Classic and Athletic Nia practices, Building the Architecture of the Nia 5 Stages, and a 60-minute Nia 5 Stages Class experience
- Nia 5 Stages Pre-Training DVD 2: Focused lessons on the Voice, Base, Core and Upper Extremities as they relate to the Nia 5 Stages

Teachers may use the 52 Nia 5 Stages Class Lesson Plans to personally study then deliver the Nia 5 Stages body of work.
Individuals interested in continuing with the Nia 5 Stages as a personal practice may use the lesson plans as a personal study of The Body's Way, Anatomy and the Nia 5 Stages.
