Notes About This Event

A Weekend at Sevenoaks
Retreat Center
in Madison, VA
with Susan McCulley &
Rebecca George

“Art is not a gene or a specific talent. Art is an attitude, culturally driven and available to anyone who chooses to adopt it.  Art isn’t something sold in a gallery or performed on a stage.  Art is the unique work of a human being, work that touches another.” – from The Icarus Deception by Seth Godin

Maybe you haven’t yet started thinking of yourself as an artist. Maybe you
think artists are people who look, act, and live differently than you do.

This weekend is for you.

Maybe you think of yourself as an artist, but only in certain arenas.
Maybe you wonder what it would be like to expand
your artist nature into other parts of your life.
This weekend is for you.

Maybe you know you are an artist and you want to be supported by
other artists as you explore the vulnerability, the joy
and the human necessity of making art.

This weekend is for you.

Life as An Artist
Nia Classes with Susan

See with new eyes, take safe risks, make connections.  What does it feel like to allow ourselves to be open, generous, connected? What does it feel like to rely more on our unique, internal compass? Absolutely no experience in Nia, dance, or anything is necessary. Come as you are…that’s where the art is.

Dates with Your Artist Self

Consciously shift your mode from industrial and productive to more open and expansive. Like looking with peripheral vision, we will play with expanding our view of the world and ourselves.

Morning Meditative Experiences with Susan

A mindful, meditative, art-focused experience to set up the day, and give you practices to play with at home.

The Art of What You Eat with Rebecca

Explore food as an art medium.  Dive into the aromas, colors, and textures of food to make mealtime a rich creative part of every day. We’ll prepare and savor several versatile dishes and discuss playing with basic recipes to discover yummy ways to nourish the artist within you.
