The Nia White Belt Training is the first level of a five-belt training series that presents a body-centered approach to health, wellness and fitness. If you have a desire to share Nia in a professional capacity, the White Belt Training is your entryway into teaching. Those who choose to pursue the path of personal enrichment use this training as a starting point for becoming a master student.

Over the course of one week, you will comprehensively explore physical sensation through five core-competency areas of study including movement, music, anatomy, science and philosophy. This joyful journey into the self is instrumental in helping you develop body knowing by learning to listen, interpret and consciously respond to the information your body communicates to you via sensation. Enroll in an upcoming training today, and positively shape the way you feel, look, think and live.

Upon graduation, you are eligible to become a livelihood member. As a livelihood member, you obtain a teaching license (whether you decide to use it or not) and have exclusive access to an in-depth continuing education program, an online forum, and special benefits and privileges. You may enroll in the Green Belt Training - which is dedicated to the craft of teaching - at any time after completing your White Belt Training. You may also enroll in the next level of training, Blue Belt Training.

After attending the University of Illinois as a dance major, I moved to NYC to study with the finest teachers in the U.S. at that time. I came to Canada to dance with La Groupe de La Place Royale, a modern dance company, and later formed my own dance company.  In the 80's I stopped dancing professionally to focus on raising my two beautiful sons.  I completed a diploma in Wellness and Lifestyle Management at Centennial College, taught fitness and wellness programs in women's fitness clubs for 16 years.  Then one day, a student told me about Nia.  She insisted that I go and learn about Nia and bring it into Canada.  The great thing about Nia is that it is the fusion of all my passions: movement, dance, fitness, music, helping and healing.

I am thrilled to be a part of this eloquent movement technique and personal growth process. Nia allows me to dance with JOY everyday of my life with educational support, variety, safety, creativity and grace. I am happy to be able to share all that I have learned with you!

Notes About this Training

Training Dates: Saturday, June 23, 2012 - 12:00pm - Friday, June 29, 2012 - 3:00pm

Each time I mention the upcoming Nia White Belt Training, someone says "I don't want to become a teacher. I just want to dance, and move, and feel good." Sometimes people say "No, it's just too much time and money."

The idea that the Nia White Belt Training is just for teachers, or too expensive, is a Myth! Approximately 50% of the people who attend White Belt are there just for the joy of movement, fitness and well being.

What if I explained to you that during the White Belt week we spend 7 days getting to know more about who we are, and how our bodies are designed to move? What would you think if I told you that this experience would help you to feel less inhibited and more creative in your life? How would you feel knowing that you would have a chance to express and move with all of your emotions? What would you imagine life to be like if you could learn to listen to your body's sensations to enhance healing and postural alignment, inside and outside of the studio? What if I told you that during the week many trainees lose weight, experience muscular conditioning, and learn how to do all 52 Moves with confidence? Can you believe that you could start to hear music more intimately and with greater appreciation? Oh, and did I mention that we get to know each other well, and actually spend a lot of time laughing and playing?

Yes, the fee is $1599.- US. As the TV commercial for hair coloring says "You're worth it!" It's about the same price as many annual gym memberships. It's about the same amount needed for a short vacation. It's $228 per day for the 7 days, approximately $4.40 per day if spread out over a year. This is one of those gifts to your Self that keeps on giving for years to come. By the way, payment plans are available for the 2nd half of the fee, after registration.

For me it's The Dance of Life. Dance is the accessible act of earthly trance-n-dance or trans-cen-dence, the practice of moving beyond your ego and into the realm of spirit. To dance is to pray. It is also to meditate. It's what helps me to feel fully alive every day. Yes, I too, just want to dance, and move and feel good.

Allow me to guide you in the healing movement and fitness art of Nia.

Roberta Mohler, LifeDANCES.com

Our White Belt producer, Nancy, has just opened her own studio called Whole SELF Wellness Centre.  Nancy is a dancer, a social worker, a healer and  a great deal of fun.  We will help her bless this space by holding a divinely playful White Belt Training here. White Belt is truely transformational. We will create a very respectful, safe space where we can dance our spirits, explore our creativity, learn the elegant technique of Nia, deepen our knowlege of the body and anatomy, dive into music as the source of inspiration, and talk about what is true and meaningful to us in our lives right now. White Belt is for everybody - you don't have to become a Nia teacher....though many people do teach Nia after White Belt because they are so excited to share the joy they have found in their bodies and in movement. Come and experience it for yourself!

Please register at least 10 weeks before the start date to insure that we have filled our quota for this training.  We need to know numbers so that we can all book the time off, and make reservations for flights and accommodations.  Registration will still be open after the 10 week mark.  To thank you for registering early, I will send you a Nia Sounds CD with my gratitude.
