Location: École de danse de Paris
Focus: The Body's Way | Intent: To sense Your Body's Way.
This White Belt is the foundation for teaching and learning Nia. Everything begins with Principle #1 – The Joy of Movement. The principles of this belt focus on the physical realm of the body and learning how to sustain and increase sensation in the body for pleasure and self-healing. The Nia principles are explored through the lens of science, craft and the art of the body and movement. Students will be introduced to the nine movement forms of Nia: Jazz, Duncan, Modern, Aikido, Tai Chi, Tae Kwon Do, The Alexander Technique, The Work of Moshe Feldenkrais and Yoga. Nia's proprietary system for music appreciation is introduced at the White Belt along with all of the 52 moves of the Nia Technique.
Notes about this Training
France-Laude Gohard was born and raised in Paris, France. At the age of 23, she moved to the U.S. In 1989 she discovered Nia and it was a life-changing experience. Feeling deeply connected to the work of Debbie and Carlos Rosas, Nia has become her life's work and passion. France-Laude received one of the first black belts in Nia, and became one of the first teacher trainers. She has been leading white belt intensives since 1990.
France-Laude brings a classically-trained dancer's touch to Nia. Her study includes Dance, Yoga, Authentic Movement, Pilates and the work of "Conscious Embodiment" developed by Aikido teacher Wendy Palmer. France-Laude's trainings are grounded with a very deep personal understanding of the very best of somatic teaching. With charm, knowledge and compassion she guides students into discovering themselves through the gift of the body. Her dedication and willingness to strive for excellence makes her stand high above the status quo.
