The 3 hour playshop will be a combination of the 3 experts in the Martial Arts (Tai Chi, Tae Kwon Do and Aikido), providing detailed information, and Nia teachers demonstrating and integrating the information into a Nia dance/movement session, while the experts continue to observe and cue your movement!!!
Lucy Bartimole: has been teaching tai chi for 15 years. She has a lifetime certification from the Guang Ping Yang Tai Chi Association where serves as Executive Vice President. In 2005 she won the gold medal in the San Diego Grand National Championship for Guang Ping Yang Tai Chi. She also holds a teaching certification in Tai Chi for Arthritis. This summer she completed her RYT-200 in yoga.
Lucy is a certified personal trainer who works with people who have Parkinsons, MS, Rheumatoid Arthritis, extreme pain and weight issues, exercise phobias and/or a general dislike for personal trainers. She loves them all.
Lucy is married to Brad Campbell, and they have two fantastic teenagers, as well as a cat, dog, guinea pig, gerbil, two fish and many basement spiders.

Joe Dunson: is a certified personal fitness trainer, a Taijiquan instructor, as well as a high degree black belt. He has taught martial arts and exercise for more than twenty years. Utilizing his martial arts training and extensive kinesthetic awareness, he delivers exercise programs that challenge endurance, balance, strength and flexibility. Joe is easy to work with, accommodating and is able to tailor the workout to an individual’s needs. He has a way of finding the appropriate encouragement for each student, and he brings strong teaching skills to his classes.
Paul Linden, PhD.: is a body awareness educator, a martial artist, and an author. He is the developer of Being In Movement® mindbody education and co-founder of the Columbus Center for Movement Studies / Aikido of Columbus. He holds a Ph.D. in Physical Education, a sixth degree black belt in Aikido, a first degree black belt in Karate, and a certificate in the Feldenkrais Method® of somatic education. He has extensive experience teaching people such as musicians, athletes, pregnant women, adult survivors of child abuse, and children with attention disorders.
Paul is a member of the International Facilitator Team for MaleSurvivor Weekends of Recovery (MaleSurvivor.org) and was recipient of the 2010 Howard Fradkin Award for Creative Survivor support. ”Dr. Linden has made a consistent and unique contribution to the treatment of trauma and sexual abuse, particularly through the development of his Being in Movement / Aikido approach focusing on body awareness and empowerment. His work has strongly influenced clinicians’ understanding of how to better integrate the mind and body in the healing process. “
Paul is on the Board of Directors of Aiki Extensions (aiki-extensions.org), and he is the originator (along with Bertram Wohak) of the International Aiki Peace Week ***—an event in which Aikido schools around the world feature events in which Aikido as a peacemaking art is showcased. Paul is the author of a number of e-books.
Following the playshop, the Nia instructors will lead a Nia Jam focused on the Martial Arts; from 4:15 -5:15pm. Only $5 to stay for the class!
