Training to Become a Nia Trainer

Black Belt graduates who are certified Nia teachers may apply to become Nia trainers. If accepted into Nia's selective, ten-month Next Generation Trainer Program, you will learn how to teach White Belt Trainings while also exploring your potential to help tailor Nia for specialty populations. All applicants must exhibit mastery of the practice and fulfill the qualifications as outlined below.

Program Details

The 2010 Trainer's Training Program is currently underway with a full enrollment of 50 elite Black Belts. Graduation will occur July 31, 2011. The next program is tentatively planned to begin in September of 2015. If you are interested in applying, please send a letter of inquiry to Jessica at

Program Qualifications

To apply to become a Nia trainer, you must:

 • Enroll and graduate from all levels of Nia training (White, Green, Blue, Brown and Black).

• Teach a minimum of three Nia classes per week from the outset of your teaching career.

• Exhibit a strong personal practice of Nia principles and philosophy in your daily life.

• Demonstrate the ability to promote your classes, workshops and Nia.

• Engage in your local Nia community.

• Regularly participate on the Nia online forum.

• Regularly participate in Nia telecourses.

• Have a detailed understanding of the body’s anatomy.

• Have exceptional objective and subjective knowledge of all 52 Nia Principles.

• Posses the ability to create Nia choreography.

• Mentor other Nia teachers.

• Have received several forms of bodywork.

• Be certificated in CPR.
