We're delighted to be hosting this amazing opportunity to train for your White Belt with not one, but two fabulous trainers Britta von Tagen & Letizia Accinelli in Scotland again this summer! We caught up with Britta, and asked her what it is that brings her back for a third visit to Burntisland, Fife, our small, East Coast town...

"The White Belt experience really is a journey and I am always amazed by it's power to transform. Each person's experience of the week is uniquely personal, crafted by Nia, shaped by the individual. I know it is an experience that stays with you a lifetime.
This last weekend I was in Portland leading a workshop called "The Spirit of Nia".
In the beginning of the workshop all the attendees and myself sat in a circle and took turns sharing about our Nia practice. One of my sweet friends and fellow instructors, Caz Crozier Thomson began to share about her recent travels to Burntisland Scotland and how excited she was to dance with the amazing community there. When she started sharing about her wonderful time, I felt a huge rush of love come over me as I remembered the Burntisland community. The energy and chemistry that I, like Caz, felt in that sacred place, The Space Upstairs. Caz said because of that visit she fell back in love with Nia!!! As I sat there listening to her, it all began to made sense to me.
We all can inspire each other on so many levels. The loving ripple effect we have through the practice and sharing of Nia keeps the spirit of Nia growing across the big pond and back again! "So Karen and Burntisland thank you for sharing Nia and inspiring me!!!"

Britta has been passionate about educating humanity to help heal the world through the dance of Nia since 1995. She has been training Nia to teachers world wide since 2002, generating an even stronger intention of Peace on Earth. Presently, Britta has combined her rich 20 year experience of working with children, her degree in Elementary Education, and the depth of Nia, to create a movement-based, educational program for children. Britta continues to share the joy and love of movement with all ages, playfully and energetically!
Her mantra: I am, therefore I teach.
Green Belt comprehensively explores all mechanics of delivering the work, including embodying the choreography, cueing, creating intentional silences, dancing to the music and helping people achieve their personal fitness goals. Whether you are a novice or a seasoned teacher, Green Belt will further your teaching skills. New teachers develop confidence, craft and skill by learning and practicing the foundations of teaching. Seasoned teachers refine and deepen their understanding, building on their craft and receiving feedback from peers to deliver the most powerful experience possible.
Britta says, "I personally feel and have seen Green Belt give teachers the tools to embody Nia on a deeper more physical level for themselves, so in turn they can provide a total MBES fitness class to their students guaranteed every time."
In addition to the 5 days Intensive Training, participants will also be able to take part in
- a one day routine immersion for SOUL (this is scheduled for the day before the Green Belt starts, SUNDAY 28TH JULY, available at a discounted rate of just £55 for Green Belt trainees, full price is £80)
- option to teach a track using your newly honed skills in a Celebratory public class in The Space Upstairs at 7pm on the evening of the final day of the training

Where on earth is Burntisland?! Our trainings happen in The Space Upstairs a mirrored studio with underfloor heating in Burntisland - a small seaside town on the East Coast about 30 minutes from Edinburgh. Links with Edinburgh Airport are quick, easy and inexpensive - as is the train from Waverly train station in the capital (just 40 minutes across the famous Forth Rail Bridge). The Caledonian Sleeper is also a good option from London.
If I can help you at all with any further information regarding B & B or hotel accommodation, staying with local students or travel arrangements please don't hesitate to get in touch. karensmallnow@yahoo.co.uk

About Nia
What is Nia?
Nia is a sensory-based movement practice that draws from martial arts, dance arts and healing arts. It empowers people of all shapes and sizes by connecting the body, mind, emotions and spirit. Classes are taken barefoot to soul-stirring music in more than 45 countries. Trainings are designed for those seeking personal enrichment and professional development. Every experience can be adapted to individual needs and abilities. Step into your own joyful journey with Nia, and positively shape the way you feel, look, think and live.
How does Nia work?
Nia draws from Tai Chi, Tae Kwon Do, Aikido, jazz dance, modern dance, Duncan dance, yoga, Alexander Technique and Teachings of Moshe Feldenkrais. Every class offers a unique combination of 52 moves that correspond with the main areas of the body: the base, the core and the upper extremities. Stiff beginners and highly fit athletes alike can adapt Nia to meet their needs by choosing from three intensity levels. Consecutive trainings collectively explore 52 principles for personal enrichment and professional development. Read testimonials from people of all ages, backgrounds and locations.
Why was Nia created?
Nia’s purpose is to grow a worldwide community of healthy people who are empowered to do great things. We believe every person can discover, explore, unleash and enhance their individual potential to live a fulfilling and meaningful life – by engaging their senses and listening to their bodies. With the right tools and education, we can increase our confidence and happiness. We can become connected to others to shape a consciousness that extends beyond our own. Together we will unearth possibilities never before imagined.
