What is Nia?
Nia is a sensory-based movement practice that draws from martial arts, dance arts and healing arts. It empowers people of all shapes and sizes by connecting the body, mind, emotions and spirit. Classes are taken barefoot to soul-stirring music in more than 45 countries. Trainings are designed for those seeking personal enrichment and professional development. Every experience can be adapted to individual needs and abilities. Step into your own joyful journey with Nia, and positively shape the way you feel, look, think and live.
How does Nia work?
Nia draws from Tai Chi, Tae Kwon Do, Aikido, jazz dance, modern dance, Duncan dance, yoga, Alexander Technique and Teachings of Moshe Feldenkrais. Every class offers a unique combination of 52 moves that correspond with the main areas of the body: the base, the core and the upper extremities. Stiff beginners and highly fit athletes alike can adapt Nia to meet their needs by choosing from three intensity levels. Consecutive trainings collectively explore 52 principles for personal enrichment and professional development. Read testimonials from people of all ages, backgrounds and locations.
Why was Nia created?
Nia’s purpose is to grow a worldwide community of healthy people who are empowered to do great things. We believe every person can discover, explore, unleash and enhance their individual potential to live a fulfilling and meaningful life – by engaging their senses and listening to their bodies. With the right tools and education, we can increase our confidence and happiness. We can become connected to others to shape a consciousness that extends beyond our own. Together we will unearth possibilities never before imagined.

Notes About This Event
Windhorse Farm Retreat Centre
New Germany, Nova Scotia, just over one hour from Halifax
September 14 - 19, 2014
Roberta Mohler, Nia Black Belt Educator, Yoga Teacher, Expressive Arts Coach
I invite you to join me at this magnificent old growth forest retreat centre, for women, to playfully explore your bodyʼs way of moving, and listening to your body/mind/spirit through a variety of approaches and methods.
In the studio... We will do Nia to feed the body with joyful movement and cardiovascular conditioning. We will do Yoga to stretch, relax, and refresh our bodies. We will discover somatic movement - that which is informed via sensation. The Life/Art Process will guide us into drawing and writing to understand the thoughts, feelings and images that emerge from our movement.
In the forest... There will be plenty of time for hiking and just wandering freely. Weʼll do some of our movement and dance outside in fields and forest to experience the profound healing energy of nature. What can trees teach us about strength, flexibility, patience, resiliency, support and partnership?
Windhorse Farm accommodations are very comfortable and will be shared with another person. All meals will be lovingly prepared and vegetarian. We will arrange transportation to/from Halifax.
The day trip to Lunenburg will certainly be a highlight!
Register before June 1st for the early bird fee of $899 + HST. After June 1, fees are $999 + HST. A $200 deposit will ensure your place. Contact & Info: Roberta at email@example.com www.lifedances.com 416-234-2784
