About the Nia White Belt
The Nia White Belt Training is the first level of a five-belt training series that presents a body-centered approach to health, wellness and fitness. If you have a desire to share Nia in a professional capacity, the White Belt Training is your entryway into teaching. Those who choose to pursue the path of personal enrichment use this training as a starting point for becoming a master student.
Over the course of one week, you will comprehensively explore physical sensation through five core-competency areas of study including movement, music, anatomy, science and philosophy. This joyful journey into the self is instrumental in helping you develop body knowing by learning to listen, interpret and consciously respond to the information your body communicates to you via sensation. Enroll in an upcoming training today, and positively shape the way you feel, look, think and live.
Upon graduation, you are eligible to become a livelihood member. As a livelihood member, you obtain a teaching license (whether you decide to use it or not) and have exclusive access to an in-depth continuing education program, an online forum, and special benefits and privileges. You may enroll in the Green Belt Training - which is dedicated to the craft of teaching - at any time after completing your White Belt Training. You may also enroll in the next level of training, Blue Belt Training.

Like a true Leo, Nia Trainer Allison Wright brings a fiery and fun spirit to every class she teaches. Allison has a degree in holistic psychology, and also studied music and neuroscience. She worked at Harvard's Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine, presented at Ohio State University's Talbot Hall Addiction Medicine Clinic, and spent three years as an arts coordinator for an independent elementary school in Cambridge, MA.
As Allison explains, "Nia wasn't a decision; it was a calling." Those who have trained with her know her as a comedic storyteller, talented musician, and original teacher. Allison shows you how to hear music with your whole body. Her fun yet relaxed approach to the Nia training experience invites you to awaken through sensing; to become more self-aware in body, mind, emotions and spirit as you dance through life.
When she's not teaching classes and leading Nia trainings, you'll find Allison trekking through the Columbia River Gorge, writing in coffee shops, or at home, recycling and transforming coffee sleeves into magnificent artistic creatures for her art-education business, Accidental Art Project.
Allison likes to collect jasmine green teas, ties, pumas (shoes, not wild cats) and countless books on eastern philosophy, neuroscience, and personal growth to keep the universe of her mind ever-expanding.

Vickie is a Black Belt Nia Teacher, White Belt Trainer, and yoga teacher whose purpose is to inspire through movement. With over 24 years of experience in the movement arts, Vickie brings somatic skill and playful self-discovery to every Nia class, training, and retreat she leads. She studied Human Sciences at Marylhurst University, and also yoga with SarahJoy Marsh, Julie Gumestead, Jennie Fox and Paul Gould. One of the first Nia teachers in Portland, OR, Vickie managed Nia's International Headquarters for 7 years, helping to spearhead an awareness of Nia in the Northwest.
A key leader in adapting Nia and yoga for teens, Vickie specializes in teaching high-schoolers through the West Linn/Wilsonville Wellness Program. In 2006, she developed the Holistic Wellness curriculum, where she also offers seminars on nutrition and the physiology of stress. Vickie's intent is to help teens connect to their body through movement - an act that supports them in making healthy personal choices inside and outside the classroom.
Students love her compassionate, grounded style of teaching blended with her effortless ability to make a personal connection with each individual. As Vickie says, "I believe that when we live in harmony with our true nature, we naturally increase our vitality." As a teacher, she aims to create an environment where students cultivate deep connections within themselves to find more aliveness, joy, and meaning.
When she's not teaching Nia classes and trainings, you'll find her upside-down in handstand, galavanting up Wind Mountain with her two awesome kids and golden retrievers, and splitting her literary indulgences between meditation books and some action-packed, pre-teen series.

We would love to have you join us for our November Split-Weekend White Belt Training. Held over two long weekends, this training format gives you a 4 day break in between weekends, allowing you ample time to not only assimilate the work but also take care of your daily life. Many parents and individuals who work full-time find this format to be of great assistance.
For your scheduling pleasure, please find the training dates below. With the exception of Day 1, each day has a 7:00am arrival time, 1.5 hour lunches, and finishes between 5:00-6:00pm. While the days are long, keep in mind that Nia training is all about listening to your body, and many rejuvenating breaks are given in between sessions. Join us for two incredible weekends of learning and sharing the Joy of Nia!
