By: Debbie Rosas and Carlos Rosas | April 13, 2009
Experience your body in a whole new way! This month, Dance Through Life by exploring playing with sound and savoring silence!
Play with Sound
- Every day, consciously take some time to make noises
- Use emotion to activate sound to strengthen your lungs and free spirit
- Vary the tone to help keep your diaphragm and thoracic muscles strong and flexible
- Sing in the shower
- Express passion and pleasure while having sex
- Sigh with enjoyment when you’re eating food
- Scream with delight when good things happen to you
- Allow small and big giggles to emerge freely
- Laugh out loud
- Let your expressive voice and Sound be heard
- When you dance Nia, walk or run, use Sound to integrate breathing with movement
Then Savor the Silence
- Invite Silence into every hour
- The moment you feel tension, impatience or agitation, exhale longer and slip into Silence
- Listen to and savor the spaces in between the sounds of life
