Nia shows up regularly in publications around the world, and as Nia’s popularity grows more and more articles are written about our work. Here are just a few of the most recent publications that have featured Nia.
In March, Amy Hovatter Hardee, Nia Black Belt instructor, directed and produced a benefit performance based on Nia choreography.
Amy’s inspiration and goal for the “Leap of Faith” Nia Dance Recital was to share the joy of Nia, and to demonstrate how Nia may be used as a healing art, holistic wellness and therapy, and to give a group of her Nia students the opportunity to shine and to grow in a performance/artistic setting.
Over 100 people attended the event. Amy and her students touched people’s hearts, minds and spirits and encouraged them to find health through movement. They have been asked to perform this recital again in the Myrtle Beach area, and in Charleston, and they are making plans to perform again in 2007.
The performance increased awareness for the three local charities that the event supported, and raised nearly $2,000 for the charities! The donations paid for a hospitality/sunshine cart for children at the MUSC Children’s Hospital, they will pay for two adult cancer survivors to attend MUSC Camp Bluebird in November, and they paid part of the fees for local children to attend an autism camp this summer.
Other charities have approached Amy regarding partnership for a future event. Many folks who did not know about Nia are now ignited with enthusiasm about the Nia Technique!
“This indeed was an incredible journey for me…a dream come true! I had so much fun creating a truly blended, artistic production that inspired the dancers as well as the entire audience. It touched my heart to see my students grow through this experience and to fly high to reach their potential and their dreams. I am honored to be a Nia teacher and to have such a great group of folks to dance with, to teach and to travel this amazing, healing, light-filled journey!”

We would like to commend Amy and her dancers for their creativity, expression, and leadership abilities that enabled them, through art, to give back to community! We are honored that Nia inspires people to greatness.
