From the Founders
It is Fall, probably our favorite time of year in the US. The weather is getting cooler and the nights are getting longer. Everything around us seems to be getting quieter, gradually getting ready for a long winters nap. The trees are turning colors and in their own way saying good-bye to their dress of leaves. The earth, ready to embrace the color, is covered with a blanket of leaves. What a perfect month for connecting to feet, using them to kick up the leaves.
In Portland we have The Park Blocks. About six blocks long and a block wide, the Park Blocks are blocks of grass and gardens nestled between old brick buildings close to Portland State University. Lined with trees and framed by benches that fill with people who like to watch life go by, the Park Blocks are the perfect place to walk and chat and about Nia and life. Walking these days feels a whole lot better thanks to Nia. It is far more pleasurable because of the way we live and move in our body. More enjoyable because of the way we are now in relationship with our feet.
Nia has taught us to love our feet and treat them well, often pleasuring them with pedicures and massages to keep them healthy and fit. Yes, all Nia foot motions have made our feet stronger and more flexible, and definitely more stable.
Being barefoot, dancing and developing body awareness from the ground up turned on our feet and helped us to discover what it means to move The Body’s Way. Finding our feet awakened us to Sensory IQ, so that now every step, every second of the day is an opportunity to heal any part of body.
In Love and Light,
