Nia Community
As you may or may not know I’m 6 months pregnant and feeling blessed and happy with my state of being. I have been teaching throughout my pregnancy and am so grateful to have Nia as my Body-Mind-Emotions-Spirit experience all kinds of changes.
In the beginning, when I felt sick and tired, I always felt better after class. I pushed myself through in the beginning. Now it is a blessing to still be able to move and to have a wonderful community of support and love in my classes as I transition into this new phase of my life.
Mid July I will begin a prenatal Nia class thanks to Debbie’s article on Nia and pregnancy, which gave me the courage to take on this class. I was concerned with taking on the responsibility of safety. As my body and energy levels have changed I have learned valuable lessons — Level 1, for starters. I’m still learning to connect to the Joy in Level 1, a bigger challenge than I anticipated. I’ve learned the power of Concise Clear Cueing. I’m learning to listen even deeper to my body.
This is an amazing time in giving over to listening to my body 100 percent — there’s simply no denying it. When I’m hungry, it is time to eat. When I’m tired, it is time to rest. When I need to cry, I cry. I’m a little sad I’m not going to be doing my Black Belt this year as I had planned.
Lastly, I just want to thank you both for the incredible amount of time and energy you give to Nia and us teachers. In the last year I have seen an incredible amount of growth in the strength of the Nia name and it has made me a more powerful teacher. I know what I stand behind and there are more tools to facilitate me as a professional Nia instructor. I see Nia taking off big time here in Denver, we don’t even have enough teachers to fill all the classes in demand.
I always feel you in my heart.
Respectfully, Evonne Brown Belt Denver, Colorado
P.S. The little life inside me has started to take on an energy of his own. Just recently he no longer was a fetus to me but a little human — I am deeply touched by this experience (and also hormonal!).
