Do you recall how you moved as a child?  You were totally uninhibited, free, not a care in the world ! My strict religious background encouraged me to be modest in dress, and move inconspicuously.  I was told it was wrong to move my body in a way that was overtly noticeable.

          Well, fast forward 50 years......thanks to my discovery of Nia, I was finally allowed to find my authentic self.  The exhilaration I felt from the dynamic music,  allowed me to travel to another level of consciousness, aka "Spirit".  It's really such a simple concept.  Ears hear music, brain connects to emotions, emotions connect body parts, and suddenly you're in the wonderful world of "Freedance"!  

          Two great passions in my life are dancing and teaching.   Five years ago, I  retired from teaching . As a long time student of Nia,  I felt the need to share the joy.  My knees, from several Marathons were aching, and I felt my future with limited physical activity was inevitable. I am truly dancing through life now, while encouraging others to find their spirits. There is nothing move rewarding than to see a student experience the true essence of dancing freely. The glazed look,  smiling face,  non-stop flow of energy, resulting in total joyful movement, is the frosting on the cake.

         I am now 66 years old, and looking forward to many more years of Nia, both as a Brown Belt Instructor, and a student.  I never stop learning, and truly respect and embrace the power of Nia.  Namaste.
