I had been teaching aerobics and conditioning classes successfully for about 14 years when a friend took me to a Nia class as her guest.  Whammo, a new possibility presented itself!  THIS was the way I wanted to move my body, I realized.  I continued to take classes from that same instructor and began thinking seriously about teaching Nia myself.  She encouraged me; I completed my White Belt in February of 2007, my Blue Belt in February, 2010, and have been teaching Nia for over 4 years.  Based on what my participants tell me, I know that I, and Nia, are providing them with opportunities to laugh, grow and enjoy life in deeper, more fulfilling ways.  With each Nia class I teach I renew my commitment to and fascination with the power and magic of the body-mind-spirit connection, and to my participants, as we all self-heal through movement.  The joy of community which we experience each time as we dance together is priceless.
