Suzanne says,
I have been teaching Nia since 1998, when I attended the White Belt Intensive in Portland, OR with Debbie and Carlos Rosas. I continued with my training, receiving the Black Belt in 2003. I became certified to teach the Nia 5 Stages in 2009.
I have taught in the Boston area at Wellbridge (now Boston Sports Club) in Newton, MA, and Healthworks, Cambridge, MA; Dana Hall School; and currently at Laughing Dog Yoga in Wellesley, MA.
I am a psychologist and certified group psychotherapist, and practice Nia inspired psychotherapy in my private practice in Wellesley and Newton. See www.suzannecohen.net for more information about my clinical practice. I teach workshops to psychotherapists, "Your Body is your Supervisor," and have written for professional journals on Somatic Psychology.
Teaching and practicing Nia has become an essential part of my life. Nia has touched me in many important ways, and I have a great desire to bring its gifts to others. I have become more body aware, have conquered back and neck pain, and feel more alive and joyful because of Nia. I have a deep sensation of wellbeing.
Dancing was a part of my growing years when I learned ballet, jazz, and modern dance. I apply these dance arts to my teaching of Nia. I love to move to all kinds of music and to choreograph using the 8 stages of Freedance.
I don't currently have any locations.
