Building on Nia's Solid Foundation

Nia is growing. The affects on the body of Nia are no less dramatic than the passage the human spirit and body experience when moving from adolescence to adulthood. After 25 years of development, our grassroots human development club known as Nia is preparing for the inevitable coming-out party – for Nia's rite of passage. There are growing pains in Nia's maturation. As we are growing, we are being put on display for the entire world to see – this is as it should be.

When I came on board eight years ago, Debbie and Carlos essentially outlined my CEO position in these terms: "Prepare Nia for the future. Make it grow and manage that growth." From that moment we as an Executive Team have consciously made plans and taken actions to develop Nia in every way.

In this process, we are challenged to create anew - to let go of familiar and comfortable dynamics and patterns that no longer serve Nia. We continue to explore every aspect of our mission, vision, and business model to hone Nia in every way.

The last year has been one of tremendous growth and change in the history of Nia. Debbie and Carlos and I have focused on the three of us exploring our personal and professional alignments. We know that in order for us to collectively guide Nia through this next developmental stage, it is paramount that the three of us are in unanimous alignment in our bodies, minds, and spirits. We've been looking at our business model, our teacher model, our business systems, our image, our message, and any and all relationships that we depend on and that depend on us. In essence, we are "burning down the house" – keeping Nia's solid foundation, while rebuilding an even stronger, better designed house to grow with into the future.

The transformational and human development component of Nia is what we the Executive Team find most rewarding. This is the apex of our alignment and the foundation of our relationship. So, as we begin to make changes in Nia, we want you to know this: A tremendous amount of thought and discussion has gone into every decision that we make. Our relationship with you, the teachers, is the central theme of everything we do, every thought we have, every action we take, and every decision we make. And, we know we can't please all of the people all of the time. We must be responsible for the whole of Nia. This requires that hard decisions and difficult choices be made at times. As you deserve our best, so does Nia.

I am very excited about and inspired by the personal work that Debbie, Carlos, and I have experienced together over the last eight years, and especially the last year. My level of respect for their commitment to mastery has grown beyond my expectations. I am completely confident that the Nia we are defining and building today is one that all of us can be proud to represent, be committed to, and adopt as a foundational element of our personal commitments to mastery.

Sincerely,
