Activating ESP

As a physical and energetic form, our well-being depends on physical movement and the proper exchange of energy to keep us balanced and in the state of homeostasis. In Nia, we move energy through the body by activating the 13 Joints, moving through Three Planes, and integrating Three Intensity Levels, blending nine energy personalities into our movement. All of this results in the awareness of sensation. Extra Sensitive Perception is the art of becoming aware of sensation on very subtle levels. Think about the meaning of each word: Extra means more. The word Sensitive means the ability to perceive the subtle. And Perception means the ability to receive and recognize what is going on around you and happening to you. To activate the awareness of subtle energy shifts, you can use the hands, changing palm directions, to activate the awareness of Extra Sensitive Perception. Balancing energy increases ESP; however, practicing Palm Directions slowly and deliberately will enhance your awareness of the subtle changes that occur when you change Palm Directions. This means you will develop more ESP. More ESP means Your Body's Way will gravitate towards an take on the path of The Body's Way. This means better fitness, health, and well-being.

Exercises for Activating ESP Using Palm Directions

1. Palms Up – Palms Down

Standing in "A" Stance, your spine vertical and your knees spring-loaded, let your arms hang down at the sides of your body, and flex your palms so that they face down toward the earth. Inhale deeply and exhale. Notice your relationship to the energy fields outside of you, and to the exchange of energy inside of you that move and create a certain kind of volume and space inside you that makes it possible for your lungs to expand. Palms Down grounds the body and connects you to gravitation; therefore, it is the palm direction that facilitates relaxation, exhaling, emptying, and stability.

Now, turn your palms up, bending your elbows at a right angle, and inhale and exhale deeply. Inhale and exhale and now notice how this palm direction (Palms Up), alters your relationship to the energy fields outside of you, and to the exchange of energy inside of you that is now creating a new kind of volume and space inside you that gives your lungs more room to expand. Palms Up electrifies and adds vitality, and connects you to more electric energy fields forces that draw energy up and out. This palm direction facilitates excitation, inhaling, filling, and mobility.

Combining Palms Up and Palm Down, which is what you do all the time to keep your shoulder joints happy (by lifting the chi, palms up, and pushing the chi, palms down), uses the action of Palms Up and Palms Down to balance energy.

2. Palms Facing Towards You

Standing in "A" Stance, your spine vertical and your knees spring-loaded, place one hand over your heart and the other one over your hara, both palms facing towards you about six inches in front of your body, fingers spread. Inhale and exhale. Notice what it means to cradle your own energy body. Palms Towards You, with fingers spread, draws energy from the outside world through your fingers into the portals of the palms of your hands. When your hands face you, your hands become conductors of energy to help reestablish energetic harmony and balance in your energy body that interfaces with your physical body. When your energy body is full, peaceful, and harmonious, your physical body receives the energetic nourishment it needs from being a physical biology form in an energy world.

3. Palms Facing Away From You

Standing in "A" Stance, your spine vertical and your knees spring-loaded, bend your arms at a right angle, palms facing away from you, fingers spread. When your palms face out into the world around you, you give off energy and also receive energy. Stand quietly, inhale and exhale, and as you exhale, give off any unnecessary energy so that you feel calm and relaxed. With Palms Facing Away, your wrists flexed and your fingers spread, the energy will go up and out into the heavens. What is most important when giving energy and releasing energy through the hands, is your mental focus. Always focus on releasing what is inside of you as energy and light that will feed the universe. Let go of good/bad labels and become Extra Sensitive at Perceiving energies that do not serve you as excess weight, bound, tangled, or condensed balls of light.

4. Recycling Energy with Palms Directions

To recycle your energy using Palm Directions, standing in "A" Stance, your spine vertical and your knees spring-loaded, hands in prayer position in front of your heart (Palms In). Push your palms in and up to the heavens, turn the palms out (Palms Out) as you bring them to the sides and down (Palms Down), curling them in to bring them up (Palms Up) and back to prayer position (Palms In).

5. Dancing Through Life

Keep your ESP activated all day long by changing the direction of your palms. Walk with your palms out, sit with the palms up, walk with your palms turned out. Spend some time resting your hands on your own body. An Extra Sensitive Perceptive teacher is a master at moving the body and energy.
