Use The Five Stages to Master the Basics.

Nothing is more important to a Nia teacher than mastering the basics. The 13 White Belt Principles are the basics, and your foundation for continuing to learn and grow. No matter what level of training you have or take, any and all information flows into and through these Principles. Each one is a powerful tool and guide for receiving physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual benefits.

Master the 13 Principles and you step onto the path of mastering Nia, and onto a path of self-mastery.

As a way to deepen your relationship with these 13 Principles, explore each one, using it in and outside of class. Integrate the objective explanation, the language from your White Belt training, with your own explanation, the subjective, to guide your process of development and teaching. Practice with each one until you can eventually say, “Yes, I am Walking with each Principle.”

To discover where you are in your path of development and mastery, use the Five Stages of Self-Healing to arrive to the truth, the knowledge of where you really are. Move through each stage, and for each Principle ask your body, “Where am I in relationship with this Principle?” Let your body tell you where you are in relationship to embodying, modeling, and speaking the objective and the subjective explanation for each Principle.

Begin this recapitulation process after you have worked with the 13 White Belt Principles for two weeks. Redo this process every other week to observe and acknowledge the changes and growth that have occurred. Master the 13 Principles and you step onto the path of mastering Nia, and onto a path of self-mastery.

As support material, bring the Nia book into class and read from it. Focus on one Principle for 13 weeks. Make posters that explain and describe each Principle and share the joy of Nia’s tools with your community.
