Witnessing Your Passions

One of the most enjoyable aspects of my work with Nia is to see how each teacher creates a distinctive teaching path with Nia. Each instructor brings his or her own individual spirit, and unique combination of skills and experience. When I work with teachers, I use the Nia practice of Witnessing to help me listen objectively and see more deeply into situations, to help me help them identify their specific skills and experience, and what they are passionate about.

I encourage teachers to align their teaching practice with their lives, with what they are skilled and experienced in, and with what they are passionate about. When you, as a Nia teacher, incorporate those skills, experiences, and passions into your business plan and your Nia teaching, you will create a teaching practice and a Nia business that is vibrantly alive, with unlimited opportunity for growth.

As a teacher, you can use Witnessing to identify your own skills, experiences, and passions in relation to teaching Nia. You could use Witnessing to ask yourself questions about yourself and your business, and to pinpoint ways to make your business even better. Ask yourself: “What fitness benefits of Nia most attract me? Do I have a background in other fitness disciplines?” Then you could use your strengths to carry Nia into health clubs and other venues that are oriented toward fitness.

Are you passionate about Nia and its relationship to spirituality and personal growth? Your path may lie in creating Nia classes and workshops that target spiritual seekers, encouraging them to use Nia as a way to enliven, deepen, and physically embody their spiritual practice.

Do you delight in working with kids? Use that love to bring Nia to a younger audience, keeping them moving and grounded in their bodies as they grow and develop. Are you a medical or health professional who resonates with the healing benefits of Nia? You may wish to focus on working with those who are on a healing journey, for which your combination of health and Nia expertise is just what the doctor ordered. Use Witnessing to discover and play to your strengths, and find your personal path as a Nia teacher.
